How To Make An Index for Your Unmounted Stamp Image

All the methods below require that you have a 100% scale copy of your stamp image. There are several ways to acquire an image: either your stamp vendor will supply a printout of your stamp at the time of purchase, or you can hand-stamp the image onto crisp white paper, you can scan your stamp image from a catalog and print a copy yourself. Or if the image is on the Web, you can print a copy, however, the image may not be at 100% scale, and often it is of lesser quality than others mentioned.

Method #1 Supplies: Printed or Stamped Image Xyron Cling Vinyl
1. Mount UM to dual adhesive foam cushion, cut-out and closely trim (Figure 1). Do not remove the wax-paper backing from the other side of the foam cushion. 2. Run the printed copy of the image through the Xyron so that the adhesive is on the unprinted side of the copy. 3. Figure 2 shows the printed copy of the image and the trimmed stamp face up. 4. Place the trimmed stamp face-down on top of the image copy , lining up the details as close as possible. Trace outline of trimmed image onto paper copy (Figure 3). 5. Carefully cut out image inside the lines, following the traced lines very closely. At this point, if you would like to write any identifying pieces of information (mfr, etc.) do so on the paper copy now. 6. Now, run the printed paper copy face-down through the Xyron so the image itself gets the adhesive. You will end up with adhesive on both sides of the paper. Processing several images at a time will help conserve your Xyron stock. 7. Remove the Xyron protective paper from the unprinted back side of the copy and apply directly on top of the protective wax paper of the foam cushion. (Figure 4 and 5) (This way, if you ever decide to wood-mount later, you will not have to re-attach another foam cushion.) 8. Remove the Xyron protective paper from the front side of the image and adhere the image to a larger piece of cling vinyl cut to the general shape of the stamp, as in the sample below. Method #2 Supplies: Printed or Stamped Image Xyron MANCO EZ-Start Shipping Tape
Start by following Steps 1-4 above. At this point, if you would like to write any identifying pieces of information (mfr, etc.) do so on the paper copy now. 5. Apply EZ-Start Shipping Tape to image. Not all images are going to fit within the width of the tape. It's perfectly OK to butt the tape up to each other, creating the size you need to cover your image. Works just great! 6. Carefully cut out the image inside the lines, following the traced lines very closely. 7. Remove the Xyron protective paper from the back side of the printed image and apply this directly on top of the wax paper covering the foam cushion. (Be sure to leave the wax paper on the foam cushion in case you ever decide to wood-mount later; you will not have to re-attach another foam cushion.) 8. Using double-sided tape on your Acrylic Mount, affix the index to the tape, and stamp away! Step 8 — Finished Index on Acrylic Mount	Step 4 Step 5 Step 6 and 7

Method #3 Supplies: Printed or Stamped Image on Avery WeatherProof Label Stock #15516 Xyron and Cling Vinyl Weatherproof Avery label stock is available 2-up to a sheet of 8½x11, so you can use this even with your larger stamps. This label stock was purchased at OfficeMax. Print or stamp image on label stock avoiding the center seam. Using Method #1, follow Steps #2—8	Method #4 Supplies: Printed or Stamped Image on HP LaserJet "Tough Paper" Xyron and Manco Shipping Tape HP's Tough Paper is durable, waterproof, and tearproof, producing "rich, vibrant print results" on a high-end laser printer. It is hard to come by, and very pricey at approximately 60¢ per sheet. Start by printing or stamping image on "tough paper," then follow Steps 1-4 in Method #1 above. Continue with Method #2 in its entirety.
